ARC EDF & BDF Viewer

A notarized EDF viewer for the Mac, built from a developer’s problem.

Waveform browsing and measurement using the built-in synthetic recording.

Notarized for macOS opens without a Gatekeeper override

A developer working with biosignal recordings needed to inspect EDF and BDF files on a Mac. The tools they found were hard to use or not notarized by Apple, so macOS would not open them without a security override. We built a native, notarized viewer and released it free for Mac and iPad.

Delivery scope

The viewer opens EDF, EDF+ and 24-bit BDF files, shows synchronized channels with adjustable time window and gain, and places a cursor for time and calibrated amplitude readouts. It reads units, sample rates and calibration from each file header and works entirely on the device. A built-in synthetic recording lets a team test without real participant data. It is available free on the App Store for Mac and iPad. It is a file-viewing utility for engineering and research, not a medical device.

  • EDF, EDF+ and BDF file reading
  • Synchronized multi-channel waveforms
  • Cursor measurements and file metadata
  • Mac and iPad release
